How do we best conserve and enhance the beautiful countryside that surrounds us?

We are lucky to already have the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) on our doorstep. Natural England is now promoting a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to extend its boundaries.

The Joint Parishes AONB Group or JPAG is made up of seven neighbouring South Oxfordshire Parishes. We have joined together to pitch for more of our valued landscape to be included within the Chilterns AONB/National Landscape. We have employed a leading landscape consultancy to prepare and submit our bid to Natural England. Natural England’s review of all AONB boundaries will begin later in 2024.

In future, the AONB will be known as the Chilterns National Landscape. We fully support the AONB board’s commitment to making this beautiful countryside accessible to all.

We will need your support when Public Consultation begins in a few months’ time. We may hold an exhibition later in the year, when we will explain our work in full.
